• Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is concierge pediatrics?

Concierge pediatrics is a pediatric practice model where we care for ~10% of the patients that a traditional pediatrician cares for. This model allows us to provide extended visit times, same day scheduling, a focus on prevention, and generally more comprehensive and convenient pediatric care. We offer many services that you can only get at an urgent care or emergency room setting such as:

    • On site x-ray
    • IV medications and IV fluids
    • Travel medicine
    • Ear piercing
    • Suturing simple wounds
    • Newborn circumcisions

Virtual visits with the doctor via internet or phone

    • Same day sick visits
    • Text and email access to the doctor
    • Direct doctor access after hours
    • Annual nutrition/life coach consultation
  • My child is generally healthy, why enroll in concierge medicine?

The benefits of concierge medicine are the difference between living and living well! We aim to keep your children healthy with a pro-active approach to physical, social, emotional and developmental health. We are available to discuss all the questions parents have, but often can’t get to, at a standard pediatric office visit. Whenever those questions arise, you know we’ll be happy and available to provide answers. With Signature Pediatrics, you will always know that if a problem arises, the doctor is always available.

  • Who should enroll in a concierge pediatric practice?

Concierge care is for families who understand and desire the peace of mind that comes with being able to speak with their doctor 24/7/365. We will spend as much time as needed with your child at each and every visit and we offer an unparalleled level of service and care. We offer many services that you can only get at an urgent care, emergency room or other specialty setting such as:

    • On site x-ray
    • IV medications and IV fluids
    • Travel medicine
    • Ear piercing
    • Suturing simple wounds
    • Newborn circumcisions

  • What are some other benefits of becoming a member?

Signature Pediatrics will coordinate referrals to specialists and hospitals. We will provide travel medicine support based on CDC guidelines. We complete forms and refills right away.

  • How do I reach the doctor after hours?

    2. Press 2 and your emergency call will be connected directly with Dr. Sinai or Dr. Smith depending on who is on call.

If you have a general question that can wait 24 hours, feel free to send an email to Dr. Sinai or Dr. Smith directly.

  • Which specialists does Signature Pediatrics recommend?

With that freedom, we pick and choose amongst the best that Charlotte and the nation have to offer in pediatric specialty care.

  • Can visiting friends or family get care at Signature Pediatrics if they become ill?

Visits from out of town friends and family are so much fun! Unless one of the kids gets sick… If that happens, we are available to see your guests during office hours. Out of town guests will be expected to pay a “one-day membership” fee at the time of the visit. The visit will also be billed to their insurance.

  • Will you meet with families before they join?

We encourage all interested families to come in for a complimentary tour and opportunity to meet our doctors and nurses as well as view our facilities. We love to have visitors!

  • Can grandparents give a gift of membership?

  • Can someone other than Mom or Dad bring in the child for visits?

Office policy requires a parent, legal guardian or designated caregiver to accompany a minor (less than 18 years of age) at every visit. This adult’s participation is expected throughout the entire visit. For well child care (check-ups) we request that the child come with his/her parent. For other visits, another caregiver may bring the child in provided a signed consent form has been completed.

  • Is the annual membership fee covered by insurance?

The membership fee is generally not covered by insurance. However, your tax advisor can clarify whether the membership fee qualifies for a tax deduction.
